About
With "XXVII", Victor Quijada continues his fusion of street and contemporary dance through a sweeping work carried by twelve performers. Drawing from the gestures, tics, and dynamics of urban culture, he composes a high-voltage physical score woven from lightning-fast actions and reactions. This new creation extends RUBBERBAND's singular approach: a choreographic language where precision, risk, and raw energy intertwine in an ensemble construction that is rhythmic, organic, and fluid.
Inspired by fluid dynamics — specifically the properties of viscous and magnetic liquids — Quijada envisions a series of tableaux in which matter in motion becomes a metaphor for the living: unpredictable, ever-shifting, and contagiously vital. This play between gravity and resistance, control and release, gives rise to a visceral and spectacular work in which movement serves as both a space for experimentation and a lens onto a world in transformation.
