"La Corriveau – Thirst of the Crows" is an original musical theatre production that brings to life one of the most fascinating figures in Quebec’s collective imagination, uncovering the facts behind the legend.
Through an investigation and a multifaceted trial, the work explores the contradictions and distortions that shaped Marie-Josephte Corriveau’s tragic story. Who was this woman who became a murderer, a witch, and a figure of folklore? And above all: who gets to tell her story?
For this story carries the weight of many others. In its wake emerge thousands of women: murdered, condemned, and vilified for speaking out, daring, singing too loudly, or dancing in the light.
Blending theatre, music, and history, "La Corriveau" revisits a foundational Quebec legend to question how narratives are shaped and how violence against women endures. A deeply Québécois story whose echoes reach far beyond its borders.
