About the show

BIRDY explores the tension between freedom and limitation, echoing Taiwan’s place between shifting forces. Reimagining Peking Opera props, the rattan pole and Ling Zi feathers — the work turns them into symbols of pressure, boundaries, and the urge to break through.

Movement draws on Tai-chi guiding principles, using minimal force to find balance, extension, and quiet recalibration. Blending contemporary choreography with electronic and classical music, BIRDY follows individuals navigating inherited structures while shaping their own direction. It reflects the pressures of life and the resilience required to endure.
